It's that time of year when all the high street stores hold their press days, showcasing their Christmas collections (they usually have 4 press days a year).

Last week, I went to 3 - River Island, Next and House of Fraser, and over the next 3 days, I'll be revealing my fave pieces and also the key trends they are highlighting!

River Island held their press day in their head office and as soon as you walked in, you instantly felt like you were at a party with the DJ playing some amazing tunes (and some amazing cocktails)...

It was hard to get into the Christmas vibe with the temperature being 31 degrees outside, but you soon got into it with all the embellishment and sparkle around the room!

Some eveningwear gave a slight vintage nod with trophy jackets and also 20's style dresses (see above).

A personal fave of mine were the embellished dresses - one maxi with cut-outs and a bright pink with a cut-out back detail - very Beyonce in my opinion:

I don't know the retail prices yet of these dresses but I reckon these dresses will be well worth the price and will grab so much attention on a Christmas night out.

Apart from the embellishment, neon played a massive part with River Island, which I really liked as it's so hard to find bright colours in the winter, especially in daywear! This leather jacket was amazing and is 100% on my shopping list for purchasing!

Shoes and boots were (as usual) - amazing and again, on my list for purchasing! These blue mermaid colour shoes were to die for (the picture doesn't do them as much justice!):

Although the classic bags were evident, statement bags really took centre stage with them being either mongolian fur, suede or pony skin! They really were out of this world!

Being a River Island fan already, I have to summarise that the collection was better than I had hoped for with the key trends being embellishment and vintage opulence through the eveningwear.

Daywear consisted of bright pinks and neons, with leather jackets and dresses playing a huge part.

Bags were oversized and baseball caps look like they are here to stay!

Hope you enjoyed the blog... would love to know what your favourite pieces were... leave your comments below!

Until next time...

I'm all about wearing something different and making a statement (in a positive way obviously!!).

This KAS New York skirt from Wolf & Badger ticks those boxes perfectly!

The thigh length of the skirt means you need to be comfortable showing off your pins as it is quite short!

This skirt is really versatile - wear with nude or white heels in the summer, or black sho-boots in the winter.

With a price point of £99.50 ( was £199), you'll definitely get your wear out of it over the years!

Until next time...

Sightings of a Stylist

Wednesday night saw Coronation Street win the Best Soap Award at the Freesat awards! Whoop!!

Along with the award was the press hum about what Cath Tyldesley and Samia Ghadie were wearing - which always brings a smile to my face, especially when the press love it!

The Daily Mail said "Looking a far cry from her character who treads the cobbles of Coronation Street, Catherine Tyldesley looked sophisticated in a Roland Mouret figure-hugging dress on Wednesday night”. They also said that the girls “looked more movie star than soapstar” – music to a stylists ears!

As usual, twitter went insane with people tweeting asking where they can get the dresses...

So, for all you celebrity fans, here you go!

Samia Ghadie

Samia wore a dress by Nadine Merabi (click the dress image to buy) from her SS13 collection. The dress was perfect for Samia and her petite frame.

Styling wise, purple was the colour of choice to clash with the dress but if you want to keep it more classic, wear nude shoes and simple accessories to let the dress do the talking.

Cath Tyldesley

Cath's dress was a stunning Roland Mouret dress which fit her curves so perfectly (click the dress to buy). To keep the AW13 dress on trend and fresh for SS13 we opted for white shoes and white clutch.

Would love your comments on what you thought of the looks!

Until next time...
